あまりの衝撃に、オビチュアリでさえ2本しか読めていない(テレグラフとガーディアン)。ただ時間だけが過ぎ、詳細の報道も目に付いた。いわく、チャールズ・ケネディは2010年に離婚したが、死んでいるのを発見したのは今のパートナーであるということ。そのパートナーは、アルコール依存の末に亡くなったケネディの親友の妻だった人であるということ。アルコール依存の問題を抱えていた親友が死んでしまったあと、ケネディは彼女の話を聞くなどしていたのだろう。そうするうちに、独身者同士で新たにパートナーとなった。結婚はしていなかったが、一緒に住んでいたというのも見た。スキャンダラスな話ではないし、こんなところで嘘を書いても何の得にもならないので、たぶんそうなのだろう。ケネディの家は、ハイランドの山の中にある質素な家だ。
